Newly renovated recreation center reopens in Commerce City
EAGLE POINTE MARKS THE COMPLETION OF FIVE-YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Residents and families celebrated the completion of the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center renovation project with a grand reopening event this afternoon. The newly renovated recreation center marks the final project completed in the city’s Five Projects, Five Years, voter-approved capital improvement program.
Located at 6060 E. Parkway Dr., the newly renovated Eagle Pointe Recreation Center features 9,000 square feet of additional space, a new therapy pool and steam room, expanded fitness area, improved dance and fitness facilities, technology lab and conference rooms, and new family locker rooms.
In 2013, Commerce City’s voters approved a 1-percent sales and use tax increase for the construction, operations, and maintenance of new parks, recreation, and road projects. The ballot measure was a result of a two-year, community-driven process to identify how to implement programs and services that address growing population needs, achieve vision and build a better Commerce City.
The Eagle Pointe Recreation Center is the final project completed in Commerce City’s five-year, voter-approved capital improvement program, which added three new parks, an outdoor aquatic center, the widening of Tower Road, and the new Bison Ridge Recreation Center.
