Commerce City seeks applicants for art exhibition at recreation centers

The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council seek to host a new exhibition of loaned artwork inside the community gathering spaces at Bison Ridge and Eagle Pointe recreation centers. All artists/photographers who reside or work in the City of Commerce City are welcome to apply.

The art exhibition theme is “Commerce City through the Eyes of Residents” and will feature 2D artwork of Commerce City from the perspective of the people that live and work in the community. Suggested subjects may include things/places that residents love about Commerce City, scenery, or a unique perspective of the city through the lens of residents. Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2020.

Artists must submit the following application materials for consideration:

  1. Digital Images: Applicants may submit up to 10 proposed individual works of art for the exhibition. Images may be submitted by email or via a travel drive; the recommended image size is between 500-800kb, 200 dpi. If proposing new work (yet to be completed), please provide samples of past work that best represents the proposed new work.
  2. Image Identification List: Applicants must list the following information for each image provided: artwork title, date of when the art was created, description (one or two sentences), medium, dimensions, and approximate weight for each art submission.  
  3. If you request for the application materials to be returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with enough postage to accommodate the return of the items.

 A short list of semi-finalists may be created and shared, depending on the number of submissions received. The project selection schedule is as follows:
