The City’s Department of Parks, Recreation & Golf (PRG) provides a scholarship program for Commerce City residents in need.  The scholarship provides up to a 50% discount on monthly memberships, up to 25% on annual memberships, and up to 50% on programs offered throughout PRG. Eligibility

  • Applicant must be in good standing* with PRG,
  • Applicant is a current resident of the City of Commerce City
  • Applicant is currently enrolled in one of the government assistance programs listed below:
    • SNAP – Food Stamps
    • WIC – Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program
    • TANF – Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
    • Medicaid
    • LEAP – Low Income Energy Assistance Program
    • Child/Parent of Foster Care
    • CHP+ – Child Health Plan Plus
    • SSI – Social Security Supplemental Income
    • HCP – Health Care program for Children with Special Needs
    • HUD – City’s Minor Home Repair Program
    • CICP – Colorado Indigent Care Program
  • Eligibility for PRG scholarships must be renewed annually

* Scholarships are not available to persons with outstanding balances for any rental, program, or other fee charged by the Department of Parks, Recreation & Golf.

Exclusions

The following are not eligible for a PRG scholarship discount:

  • Concessions or any retail items sold at point-of-sale
  • Rounds of golf at Buffalo Run Golf Course
  • Meals and beverages at Bison Grill restaurant
  • Admission to Paradice Island Waterpark
  • Private or semi-private personal training sessions
  • Facility rentals, shelter rentals and pool parties
  • Contracted classes or camps

Scholarship Application

  • To apply, please submit an application for each member of the household seeking financial assistance.
  • We accept applications on a rolling basis, so you can apply any time.
  • PRG staff will review each scholarship application, and you will be notified of your application status.

Good Friends Scholarship

In addition to our program scholarships, PRG also offers additional assistance to older adults needing financial help to participate in recreation programs and center membership. If you are an older adult looking for financial assistance with program registration, you can submit a confidential request with our staff at 303-289-3720.
